PLEASE NOTE:

Shannyn is currently OPEN for new adolescent (13-17yrs) and adult referrals. Please note Shannyn is NOT currently taking referrals for children (2-12yrs). This is current as at October 2024.

For Adolescents aged 13-17, parents are first invited to attend a parent-only appointment. This parent-only session will gather all relevant background information, developmental history and parent treatment goals, and give you an opportunity to discuss the process of adolescent therapy before your adolescent commences treatment. This is a long consultation and does not require your adolescent to be present. Alternatively, if you feel that your adolescent would prefer to direct their own therapy more independently, you can choose to book your adolescent in for their first session. Please note if you choose this option, it will require your adolescent to provide background family history and developmental history to their therapist.

To make an initial appointment at with Shannyn, call our reception team Mon-Fri 9am-5pm on 0422 868 056, Book Online, or email us at admin@swpsychology.com.au

Medicare

Shannyn is an approved Medicare Provider.

Medicare offers rebates of $96.65 per session on psychology sessions when you are referred by your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician under a Medicare Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

Medicare has set up a Better Access to Mental Health Initiative which aims to improve the outcomes for individuals who have a mental health condition through better access to evidence-based treatment. Under this initiative Medicare rebates (for up to 10 sessions per calendar year) are available by visiting your GP, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist and discussing with them your eligibility for this service. If you are eligible, you will be given a ‘Mental Health Care Plan’ referral to your treating psychologist.

Please note – GPs prefer you book this as a double appointment and state that you would like to discuss getting a Mental Health Care Plan at the time you are making your booking. For child referrals, ask your GP clinic whether they would like you to bring your child to the appointment.

Please speak to our reception team at Shannyn Wilson Psychology to find out more.

Private Health Insurance

If you are not claiming rebates through Medicare, you may wish to claim a rebate on sessions through your Private Health Insurance, dependent upon your extras benefits. Please speak with your Insurance Company to determine your level of cover.
